Amorgos
The Big Blue
There is a monastery on Amorgos that can only be seen from the sea.

Chapter I
The myth
To this day the monks welcome anyone who makes the climb with a glass of cool water.

Legend has it that a thousand years ago an icon of the Virgin reached Amorgos in a boat with no crew, from a distant monastery in Palestine. Some say it arrived broken in two and that the halves turned up on the shore, joined together. There, wedged into a cliff hundreds of meters above the water, rose the monastery of Hozoviotissa. To this day the monks welcome anyone who makes the climb with a glass of cool water, a sweet, and a little raki.
Centuries later, cinema found the deepest blue of the Aegean in Amorgos: part of The Big Blue, the film about the divers who wanted to go deeper than anyone, was shot there.
Chapter II
On Contadora
57species of coral in the Pearl Islands

Contadora’s blue lies offshore. The islands around it shelter reefs where turtles, rays, and angelfish swim. The Pearl Islands are home to 57 species of coral, and their waters are a nursery for hammerhead sharks.
The best spots are a short boat ride away: the reef at Chapera, the sandbars that appear at low tide, the rocks of Pacheca.
Chapter III
Your ritual
Head out to the reef early, while the water is still. When you return, the villa is waiting for you, like the monks of Amorgos, with cool water and something sweet.
The room
Water blue and chapel light
Water blue, whitewash white, and soft light, like the light that enters a stone chapel. It is the quietest room in the villa, meant for whoever comes back from the sea with salty skin and wants to stay quiet a while longer.
Reference images: the photo shoot on Contadora will replace them. The room details (size, beds, view and capacity) will be published with the real data.
